Scorpios x Refik Anadol
“I'm so grateful that these members of the Yawanawá have travelled here to help point out that the Amazon isn't just an indigenous problem or a Brazilian problem — it's something that concerns the whole world.” — Thomas Heyne, Scorpios founder To inaugurate the Encounters cultural initiative, Scorpios invited AI artist Refik Anadol and the Yawanawá chiefs Nixiwaka and Isku Kua of the communities of Aldeia Sagrada and Nova Esperançay in the Brazilian Amazon to Mykonos to unveil their collaborative art collection 'Winds of Yawanawa', comprising a 3D data sculpture and a limited amount of digital artworks that responded in real time to climatological data from the Amazon rainforest. Across July 13 and 14, 2023, Scorpios Mykonos hosted a panel discussion, a drop ceremony, and a special Yawanawá concert alongside important conversations about art's role in environmental conservation and the potential of Scorpios Encounters.
